Sphinx Statuette

Our exquisite Sphinx Statuette is inspired by the storied Sphinx bookends produced in the late 1980s as part of the Save the Books Campaign to replace over 400,000 books destroyed by fire at Central Library. The Sphinx Statuette is patterned after the sphinxes that symbolically guard the library's main stairwell. This sculptural work of art was expertly crafted by the original creator of the bookends, Michael De Medina, in his Southern California foundry. The limited-run Sphinx Statuette is a perfect commemorative piece for celebrating Central 100!
