When Lee Lawrie collaborated with Bertram Goodhue in the art and sculpture of the Central Library, they developed designs based on the theme "Light of Learning." This theme is evident in everything from the inscriptions to the sculptures of ancient figures. Representative motifs like the starburst can also be seen throughout the library, most notably in the second floor rotunda.
Our LAPL Central Library Starburst T-shirt features the starburst motif, lighting up the flagship library of the Los Angeles Public Library system. This graphic illustration shows Central Library as book spines, and featured on some of the spines are a selection of library departments from Business to Arts & Recreation.
