Each of these classic hex-shaped number 2 pencils feature a matte black coating, copper imprint, gold ferrule, and pink eraser and come with a backing card that doubles as a bookmark!
The front of each backing card is printed with a a patent illustration collage from the March 1874 issue of the US Patent and Trademark Office's Official Gazette, from the collection at the Los Angeles Public Library.
Pencils read, "No Prior Art," "Make Your Mark," "Analog Invention Machine," and "This Invention Wasn't Pointless."
This pencil set is produced in association with No Prior Art, a major exhibition and citywide program series exploring stories of invention at the meeting place of art and science and celebrating the public library as a place of active creation and invention. No Prior Art is the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Public Library's contribution to Getty's PST ART: Art & Science Collide.
