Luceros y Penumbras Raven Enamel Pin

Our Luceros y Penumbras Raven Enamel Pin is based on the raven carrying the torch of the Light of Learning, which sits atop the LA Central Library and is also depicted in Luceros y Penumbras: The World’s Largest Pop-Up Book. From the installation:

To the Lowland Maya people, Raven was one of the four animals to bring corn to humanity. In the stories of the Inuit and Lingít people of the Pacific Northwest, the raven tricked the keeper of the sun in order to bring light to the world. That is why the raven depicted here carries a torch in its beak.
