25th Anniversary of Central Library Reopening Print

$ 16.00

Description

In 1986, the Los Angeles Central Library in Downtown LA suffered a devastating fire, which shut LAPL’s flagship library for almost a decade. In 1993, after renovations that included a new wing, upgraded facilities, new public art projects, and preservation and salvage work by the hands of 1500 dedicated staff and volunteers, the Central Library finally reopened. Featured in this print is original artwork by Ann Field, created as part of the grand reopening celebration in 1993. In 2018, the Los Angeles Public Library celebrated 25 years since the reopening of the Central Library and the enduring legacy of a tragic moment that brought a city together.
